Just DivingDive team enters 'space'

Just Diving Limited were asked by Leicester University to provide a scuba-diving experience package for part of the Space School UK summer camp.

Space School UK is a residential summer school aimed at providing students who are interested in physics, astronomy and space science and technology a week-long package of activities.

To help the students understand about how micro gravity feels, and what it would be like to have to be an astronaut in space, Just Diving was asked to provide a scuba activity for around 60 young people.

Just Diving decided it would be a great idea if the students had to work together in teams to achieve a challenge without being able to talk to each other.

A special construction kit was found for underwater use, and an underwater moon buggy was designed for the team to build.

Just DivingEach team started off with a safety brief and then took part in a PADI Discover Scuba programme under close supervision of Just Diving’s professional crew.

Following this, the team challenge was briefed, and each team had to select a commander of the fleet. Then, with simple instructions in hand, they were away battling ‘gravity’ and the clock to complete the building of their moon buggy.

Each team had 30 minutes to complete their challenge and did a fantastic job, with most teams completing the moon buggy.
