I would reccommend Thailand, Koh Lanta is a large island about a few hours boat ride from Phuket. The diving is great and there is lots to do whilst you are in the water with great restaurants and a laid back atmosphere. Some things to do topside, Thai Cooking Course, Elephant rides, shopping at the markets, snorkelling tours etc. the list goes on. As for the diving you'll find more info on my site http://www.divingasia.com if you need any more advice get in touch and I'll be more than happy to help.

mreagle, I found Dominica in the Caribbean to be the best place I've been to that would keep a non-diver happy. It's not really a beach kind of place, and it's got some great stuff to do on land. i.e. walking, quad biking, horse riding, river trips etc. There's also a river rapids you can ride down and it's one of the best places in the Caribbean for whale watching!

Try Alanya Turkey. Here she will be able to have Turkish baths, visit caves, have lunch in restuarants on the river, go white water rafting, visit the castle (while you are diving round the base) as well as the usual shopping. I would recommond Active Divers (www.activedivers.com), she will also be able to join you the boat and may do a Try Dive as well.

Have a look at www.odysseydive.com It's a british run dive club in Hakidiki Greece. Most of the diving is over by 1400hrs so that you can get back to the non divers. They can also join in on the dive trips as a snorkeler if there is room

I would agree with Dominica as an excellent place to go for non-beach holidays. We have been twice and stayed in Soufriere in the south of the island - lots of places to see, hot springs, walking, mountain biking, kayaking, etc. Nature Island Dive organised all sorts of activities for our non-diving days. And the diving is brilliant so you won't feel that you are deprived. Also we have just come back from Menorca where the diving was excellent - in the Marine reserve off the north coast. Lots of things to do - walking, history, cooking, horse riding, archaeology etc
